Published Works
During my collegiate career, three of the projects that I worked on were published. Those three works as well as some information about them can be found below.
In the fall of 2021, I was enrolled in a layout & design class that taught me how to use Adobe InDesign to create graphics and other documents. The final project for the class was a competition to design the department newsletter for Missouri S&T's English and Technical Communication department. We were instructed to follow Missouri S&T’s branding guidelines and were provided with most of the written content for the newsletter. My design was selected to be published as the department’s official 2022 newsletter, and it was distributed across the campus community via the department's website as well as in print.

During my spring 2022 semester at Missouri S&T, I joined the campus literary arts club Southwinds, which publishes a printed magazine of photographs, art, and written works from members of the campus community. The club had lost a lot of members in the previous semesters from the pandemic and graduations, including the members who knew the most about getting the magazines designed and published. To help the club avoid such a situation in the future, we documented everything we learned while going through the design and publishing process so that future club members would have a guide to refer to. The issue was published just before the end of the 2022 spring semester, and I would continue working with Southwinds to encourage more of my peers to join. The two club members who helped make the issue and I gave a presentation about our efforts to revitalize the club at the 2023 Central States Communication Association conference in St. Louis. Nowadays, Southwinds has been able to acquire more members and funding and has a greater ability to showcase the creative talent of the Missouri S&T campus community.

In the spring 2023 semester, I was again responsible for assisting with the production of the next issue of Southwinds. With a rebuilt team, we delegated work across the club to provide new members with experience working in Adobe InDesign. Additionally, as we were able to draw from the documentation we created for the 2022 version, this issue spent far less time in editing, and we were able to meet the printing department’s requirements much faster. At 60 pages long, the issue is almost twice the length of the 2022 version. With a larger team and more documentation for our design processes, the 2023 magazine improves upon its predecessor in many ways.
